‘The Greatest Beer Run Ever’ Falls Short (Review)

Peter Farrelly's follow-up to his mawkish Best Picture winner 'Green Book' is a more interesting film, but I'm not sure 'The Greatest Beer Run Ever' is a good movie. Actually, I'm quite positive that it isn't, but it is an inherently watchable one. That has everything to do with Zac Efron, who makes a rather unlikeable character surprisingly sympathetic. He plays John "Chickie" Donohue, a merchant Marine in 1967 New York City who concocts a rather ridiculous plan while out shittalking at the bar with his buddies. Zac Efron brings his buddy a PBR in 'The Greatest Beer Run Ever' (Apple TV+) From the Five Boroughs to Da Nang If this wasn't based on a true story, you'd be forgiven for thinking the plot was absurd. Chickie makes a plan to go to Vietnam and deliver cans of Pabs...

Jimmy Eat World’s Heartfelt Acoustic Version Of “Something Loud”

Going the DIY route, Jimmy Eat World has released an acoustic version of their latest song. The intimate version of "Something Loud" was recorded in their own Tempe, Arizona studio. And the accompanying music video was filmed as they recorded. In other words, what you see is what you get. Frontman Jim Adkins along with long-time band members Tim Linton (guitar/backing vocals), Rick Burch (bass), and Zach Lind (drums) recorded the reworked version in a single day. The entire process to mix and master the song and edit the video was a very hands-on process with Adkins having this to say about the experience. I recorded, mixed, filmed and edited the thing — took about a week all-in. A lot of it was hitting the spacebar to record, then running into the garage to play whatever was s...

408 Release Anthemic “2016” Collaboration With Titus

Anticipation is building for the release of the new album from 408. Filled with pop punk and alt-rock bangers, Out Of It can't get here soon enough. The newest single from the album is an uptempo energetic new song called "2016" and the album is due October 28th. The new single features Titus on vocals. Coming off a string of successful singles, their most recent effort went viral. "Backfired" with Taylor Acorn has racked up hundreds of thousands of streams and connected with fans on Tik Tok. What we like about 408 is that we can hear the pop-punk roots they're grounded in but other influences permeate through the music. If you listen closely, you can hear the hip hop, EDM, and electronica bleed through. The result is an up-and-coming band that is familiar yet fresh. New Music ...

B.J. Novak Heads to Texas for ‘Vengeance’ (Review)

'Vengeance,' the directorial debut of 'The Office' star B.J. Novak, is a sharply observed Texas-based noir that explores more territory than you might expect. Novak wrote, directed, and starred in this darkly comic thriller as somewhat of an aimless journalist named Ben Manalowitz looking for his ticket to success. B.J. Novak and Boyd Holbrook star in 'Vengeance' (Focus Features) An Unexpected Trip to West Texas His career is on a decent path, but his ambitions are higher. His love life is fleeting, with an iPhone full of women that he identifies mostly by where he met them to jog his own memory. Callous and selfish, his tendency is to sacrifice genuine relationships for brief moments of pleasure. Ben's life changes when he gets a phone call from a man named Ty (Boyd Holb...

Art Rock Trio Palaye Royale Unveil “Lifeless Stars”

Talented art rock trio Palaye Royale have released their highly anticipated new single. On top of that, they've announced the release date for their new album. "Lifeless Stars" will be included on Fever Dream and will be released on October 28th. If you're just getting to know Palaye Royale, their music can be described as equal parts brit-pop, glam rock, and art-punk. It's a family affair as the band was formed in 2008 by three brothers Remington Leith (vocals), Sebastian Danzig (guitar), and Emerson Barrett (drums). Sebastian, the oldest of the Kropp brothers, was born in Canada but they moved to Las Vegas shortly after birth. As teenagers, they moved to Los Angeles where they paid their dues in the local rock 'n' roll scene. On The Road Over the years they've developed a pass...

They did release a single from the project at the time, a cover of The Chainsmokers' "Sick Boy". The track had success on rock radio charts and has accumulated more than a million streams to date. The band would undergo lineup changes in 2021. They opted to re-record songs for what will be their 2023 release, The Art of War. Getting To Know Weapons O...

San Francisco-based rock band The Stone Foxes have unveiled a 'killer' new single. "Time Is A Killer" is set to appear on the upcoming release of On The Other Side.
