Wolf Rd Drops Pop-Punk Anthem “Way Down”

Wolf Rd is back with a banger of a new single in the form of "Way Down". The band just celebrated the single drop with a big release show at Chicago's Bottom Lounge. Photo Credit: Kelley Curran "Way Down" taps into a little bit of everything I like about the pop-punk genre. It has catchy melodies, heavy guitar breakdowns, and lyrics with depth. The song is about picking up the pieces after you've had your heart broken. Frontman Chris Hoffmann had this to say about the track. "Way Down" is fast and dancey and energetic because it’s not about staying down when you feel bad – it’s a song about pulling yourself up, putting yourself back out there, and being determined not to let your past or other peoples’ opinions determine how you’re going to live your life. Goodbye, and good rid...

Magnolia Park’s ‘Heart Eater’ EP Is A Pop Punk Masterpiece

The new EP from Magnolia Park is out now. Heart Eater is an action-packed four-song EP loaded with special guests. The only complaint that comes to mind is the fact I didn't discover these guys sooner. Magnolia Park first popped on my radar in March when vocalist Joshua Roberts teamed up with 408 on the pop-punk anthem "Mark Hoppus". The song made some waves even catching the attention of the Blink 182 vocalist/bassist himself on Twitter. Leading up to the release of Heart Eater, they dropped singles with members of Bad Suns, Mayday Parade, and former skateboarder/YouTube star Chad Tepper. Fast forward to Friday and the release of the EP, they dropped their strongest track to date. "Serious" is the one song on the EP that doesn't have a guest appearance. And just goes to show they...

Listen To Big Drink’s New Single “Different Circles”

Big Drink's new single "Different Circles" could be a sign of big things to come from the band. This pop-punk outfit hails from the UK and has hit a home run with their new song. It Was Supposed To Be Easy is the new EP set for release on June 3rd. Fans of A Day To Remember, Four Year Strong and other bands with a similar vibe have a strong chance of enjoying "Different Circles". The song features crunchy guitars, catchy accessible vocals, and some really enjoyable growling about two minutes in. "Different Circles" is a twisting journey exploring the thoughts and feelings behind giving up. Aimed at trying to explain the upwards battle faced in life and creative endeavours, the track hints at dissatisfaction and isolation in making music during lockdown and the piling pressure ...

Pop-Punk Band 408 Pays Tribute To Mark Hoppus On Catchy New Single

Orlando's 408 has just dropped a new single that's making some waves. The song is a tribute to Blink 182's legendary bassist "Mark Hoppus" and the accompanying music video will put a smile on your face. 408 teamed up with Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens and Joshua Roberts from Magnolia Park to pay tribute to an artist that's had a huge impact on their lives. The goal was to record a genre mashup that stayed true to themselves while paving new ground. The resulting collaboration combines elements of Juice WRLD style trap with pop-punk vibes and they've succeeded in creating something unique. To the point that they've gotten the attention of Mark Hoppus himself as evidenced by this tweet by the man himself. https://twitter.com/markhoppus/status/1507059696577875969 No...

Chief State Drop New Pop-Punk Single “Team Wiped”

Canadian band Chief State is here to help usher in a pop-punk revival with the release of their new single "Team Wiped". Along with the single drop we have details on the release of their debut full-length album. Waiting For Your Colours is set for a July 1st premiere on Mutant League Records. Hailing from the Vancouver area, the album is a result of five years of hustle as a band. Waiting For Your Colours follows up the stand-alone single 'Metaphors" from last year and the 2020 EP "Tough Love". After spending time with each, the band has clearly taken a big step forward with "Team Wiped". Not to say their previous efforts weren't quality, it's clear they're growing as songwriters and production values have improved with this release. Frontman Fraser Simpson who left his home ...

[Interview] Shut Up & Play Some Pop Punk: A Chat with Mikei Gray of The Frst

Given the fact that that the When We Were Young festival sold out in mere hours (and now has not only a 2nd, but a 3rd date), it shouldn't be surprising that pop punk is here to stay. It certainly doesn't surprise Mikei Gray of The Frst, whose latest single, "Pop Punk Song", captures the mood of an entire generation in a simple, yet catchy way.   So, to quote The Frst, allow me to "shut the fuck up and play some pop punk" for you: "Pop Punk Song" by The Frst: streaming now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P21z4WWp5w4&feature=youtu.be My favorite thing about The Frst's "Pop Punk Song" is that while it's got that catchy, cathartic chorus that's just begging to be screamed at a show, it's also campy and self-aware. At first, I...

Avril Lavigne Teams Up With Travis Barker On Catchy New Single “Bite Me”

Travis Barker has been everywhere lately so of course, it makes sense he's collaborating with Avril Lavigne on a catchy new single. "Bite Me" stars the multiplatinum-selling Lavigne in her first release since signing to Barker's DTA Records. Lavigne's career began in the early 2000s after growing up signing in churches where she grew up in Canada. She signed a major label deal with Arista Records and two years later she was a household name with hit songs all over the radio. Her debut album Let Go featuring "Complicated", "Sk8er Boi" and others have achieved Diamond Certification with sales of over 15 million copies. A string of highly successful albums and high-profile relationships followed. What many people didn't realize, along the way she dealt with health issues includin...

Sueco Drops New Single, Goes Viral With “Paralyzed”

Sueco is already a gold-certified artist with the Recording Industry Association of America. He's topped 500 million streams globally and boasts millions of followers on social media led by the 5.6 million people on his Tik Tok account. But it feels like he's only just begun to tap into his potential. Up until now, he's earned respect in the hip-hop genre but "Paralyzed" hits different. The song does begin with a hip-hop cadence but quickly kicks in with an early 2000s hardcore/screamo vibe but with a modern-day sensibility. Tik Tok #FYP Travis & Sueco I first stumbled on Sueco late one-night scrolling through Tik Tok. I'd heard songs of his before but didn't necessarily know it was him. He does deserve credit for creatively promoting the release of the new single throug...
