Interview: Echlo’s “Soul Savant” Music Video Debut

The elegant dark pop track "Soul Savant" by Echlo was recently released to the public. Now, the visually stunning music video for the song has debuted and is worth experiencing. www.echlomusic.com With stories about her experimentation with polyamory, anti-establishment tales that some might consider conspiracies, the inability to commit to one love, the rejection of modern media and propaganda, and the conviction that mental illness is a sane response to a sick society, ECHLO is determined to push back against the expectations of an all-too-often inhumane society. We recently caught up with her to gain some insight into the inspiration behind the song, more details on the video itself, and when we can expect the new album to be released. Stay in touch with Echlo by following al...

‘Marcel The Shell With Shoes On’ is Truly Delightful (Review)

Dean Fleischer-Camp and Jenny Slate's online phenomenon of Marcel The Shell earns his first big screen adventure in 'Marcel The Shell With Shoes On.' A24's first foray into family films is a feature-length adaptation of the short films that the former couple posted on YouTube over a decade ago. In the years since, the duo fell in love, got married, got divorced, and still managed to make this truly delightful film together. Marcel The Shell With Shoes On (the original YouTube video) https://youtu.be/VF9-sEbqDvU Marcel's Big Screen Adventure Marcel (voiced by Slate) is not a snail - he's a walking and talking (and often rolling) seashell with one googly eye. His family gets whisked away into a suitcase during a fight between the humans in the house where they lived. N...

Nothing More’s Spirits Album Drops October 14th

Rockers Nothing More has announced the pre-order for their new album. The highly anticipated "Spirits" is set for release on October 14th. Accompanying the announcement is the release of the lyric video for the hard-rocking title track. Photo Credit: Jody Domingue 'The new single follows the successful "Turn It Up Lie (Stand In The Fire)" and "Tired of Winning". "Spirits" has everything to do with alcohol according to frontman Jonny Hawkins. When you drink liquor, it has been said that you are welcoming that pneuma (spirit) into your body. Most of us have seen and experienced how alcohol (or rather ‘al-ghawl,’ which means demon/spirit) can make us feel. It’s almost as if we turn into someone else when too much of the spirit has been consumed. Sometimes it’s eye opening and can ...

Hard-Hitting Jane N’ The Jungle Single “Dirty Dog” Available Now

Jane N' The Jungle has come out swinging with the release of their new single "Dirty Dog". The uptempo rock track carries a strong message that shouldn't be ignored. Photo Credit: Jim Louvau Front woman Jordan White confronts the issue of her own sexual assault in the lyric content of the song. She penned the lyrics at a local watering hole while trading stories with the talented Ayron Jones. Lyrics like "felt so gross and so small, like a Dirty Dog" carry a heavy weight. But these types of heavy topics shouldn't be ignored. In fact, I can't think of a better place to express them than an aggressive rock song like this. Jane N' The Jungle is fresh off the release of their Ocean Creatures EP. They jumped right back in the studio so that the talented White along with Brian Dellis...

Wolf Rd Drops Pop-Punk Anthem “Way Down”

Wolf Rd is back with a banger of a new single in the form of "Way Down". The band just celebrated the single drop with a big release show at Chicago's Bottom Lounge. Photo Credit: Kelley Curran "Way Down" taps into a little bit of everything I like about the pop-punk genre. It has catchy melodies, heavy guitar breakdowns, and lyrics with depth. The song is about picking up the pieces after you've had your heart broken. Frontman Chris Hoffmann had this to say about the track. "Way Down" is fast and dancey and energetic because it’s not about staying down when you feel bad – it’s a song about pulling yourself up, putting yourself back out there, and being determined not to let your past or other peoples’ opinions determine how you’re going to live your life. Goodbye, and good rid...

The 21st annual Tribeca Film Festival has been been going on since June 8. The in-person portion of the event has ended, but the online "at home" programming continues through this weekend. All of the films featured below had their World Premiere at Tribeca and are available to rent online for $15/each and are viewable through the Tribeca At Home app until Sunday, June 26. This was the 21st year of the Tribeca Film Festival. 'Butterfly in the Sky' Directors Bradford Thomason and Brett Whitcomb follow-up 'Jasper Mall' with this loving portrait of the long-running PBS series, 'Reading Rainbow.' Ed Kowalczyk Re-records Vocals For “Lightning Crashes” Remix

Canadian DJ Avira has built up a reputation in recent years for remixing classic songs. Up next on his agenda is a remix of an alt classic from Live. "Lightning Crashes" was one of the biggest songs of the 90s and it's been reborn as an EDM song. Listen: Lightning Crashes Remix I wasn't sure what to expect when I first read about the project. And I must admit I wasn't sure what to think after my first listen. But I went into the experience with an open mind. Live was (is) a huge part of my musical DNA. Ultimately I approve and after a few more times on repeat, I can't stop listening. AVIRA has taken the original and effectively paid tribute while instilling a modern sensibility. This version of "Lightning Crashes" is sure to connect with music fans despite genre preference. ...
