Big Deep Set for Live Debut at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock

A new band is emerging from Woodstock, and its first show will happen close to home. Big Deep will make its live debut on Saturday, September 5, at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York. The new project brings together former Spafford bassist Jordan Fairless and New York guitarist Luke Schwartz. The lineup also features Kevin Cooper on keys and PJ Holaday on drums. Big Deep describes its sound as a blend of indie rock, rich melodies, expansive grooves, and a genre-defying spirit. Fairless is well known to fans of the jam scene through his time with Spafford. Nothing says Woodstock weekend quite like breaking an axle on the way to Yasgur’s Farm. That was how my Saturday started. I was headed to Bethel with the KZE Kamper loaded with enough broadcast and recording gear to make turning around not much of an option when the axle decided it had other plans. Fortunately, this is where the music community tends to show what it is made of. Lee Mazzola and Tim Craig from Mazzstock jumped in and helped get me back up and running. Each night will feature its own theme, opening artists, surprise guests and custom merchandise. Lawrence will also perform almost entirely non-repeating headline sets across the three nights. Mike Wheeler, the acclaimed Nashville-based singer, songwriter and performer, who is also a member of BERTHA: Grateful Drag, will perform on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Transparent Clinch Gallery in Asbury Park, NJ. Rush fans north, south and within the U.S. borders rejoiced Monday at the announcement on Instagram that bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson are getting the band back together for a 2026 tour. And they should all send Sir Paul McCartney a thank-you card. But more on that in a minute. Rush’s “50 Something” tour will run from June 7-September 17, beginning in Los Angeles, California, and wrapping up in Cleveland. Lee and Lifeson haven’t toured together in 11 years.
