Broken Axles, Live Radio and Yasgur Road Reunion 2026

Nothing says Woodstock weekend quite like breaking an axle on the way to Yasgur’s Farm. That was how my Saturday started. I was headed to Bethel with the KZE Kamper loaded with enough broadcast and recording gear to make turning around not much of an option when the axle decided it had other plans. Fortunately, this is where the music community tends to show what it is made of. Lee Mazzola and Tim Craig from Mazzstock jumped in and helped get me back up and running. This was a shining example of the old GD mantra.. but instead of “strangers helping strangers,” it became “festivals helping festivals. “Jeryl needs you over there, I’m gonna need you next weekend. So get to it,” was the last thing I heard from Lee as I was getting ready to finally hit the road.  A few hour...

The KZE Kamper: Taking Local Radio Back to Where the Music Happens

There is something wonderfully backwards about the KZE Kamper. At a time when much of the radio industry is looking for ways to move farther away from the physical world—more automation, more centralized programming, more content delivered from studios hundreds or thousands of miles away—98.1 KZE has been investing in a vehicle designed to do exactly the opposite. We built something that allows the radio station to go where the music is. The KZE Kamper is a mobile live-music production and broadcast vehicle capable of recording, mixing, transmitting and producing concerts from virtually anywhere we can park it. Inside is much of the same technology that would traditionally be found in a professional broadcast facility or live recording studio: digital audio production, multit...

Rush Reunites: How Paul McCartney Helped Get the Band Back Together

Rush fans north, south and within the U.S. borders rejoiced Monday at the announcement on Instagram that bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson are getting the band back together for a 2026 tour. And they should all send Sir Paul McCartney a thank-you card. But more on that in a minute.
