With The Punches Deliver With New EP Discontent

After more than nine years, the beloved pop-punk band With The Punches is back. They've delivered with the release of their new EP Discontent. They'll be supporting the album with a run of shows that includes an appearance on the Mutant League Records 10th Anniversary tour. The July 2nd date features performances from Settle Your Scores, Chief State and Wilmette! at Subterranean in Chicago. With The Punches initially formed in 2008 before going on hiatus a few years later. They released three EPs and one full-length album during their initial run as a band. Despite their extended performing hiatus, they never stopped writing music. According to guitarist Dustin Wallace, they'd write and pass a demo around every few weeks. There wasn't any real sense of urgency to it with band memb...

Dive in to ‘George Carlin’s American Dream’ on HBO (Review)

'George Carlin's American Dream' is a new HBO docuseries from directors Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio that chronicles the life and career of one of the greatest comedians of all time. Split into two parts and totalling nearly 4 hours, it pays loving tribute to a comedy legend. He was a man who evolved from a very safe mainstream comedy career in the early 1960s into a controversial comic with prophetic routines. It's fascinating that material he performed decades ago regarding abortion rights have gone viral again in 2022. That's how observant and ahead of the curve he was. https://youtu.be/M-bLf4F0PM4 Breaking Down the Life of a Comedy Legend Apatow and Bonfiglio dissect his life more or less in chronological order. Carlin was interested in comedy and becoming a D...

Sick Puppies Bassist Emma Anzai Joins Evanescence

Alt-rockers Evanescence has announced a few tweaks to their lineup. In the wake of the recently announced departure of longtime guitarist Jen Majura, they've found an in-house replacement on guitar while tapping Sick Puppies bassist Emma Anzai to join the band on bass guitar. In a recent social media post, it was revealed that Tim McCord will be taking over guitar duties. He became an official member of Evanescence in 2007 and has been holding it down on bass ever since. McCord will now have the opportunity to return to his original instrument. Emma Anzai founded Sick Puppies with former frontman Shimon Moore in 1997. They had a string of successful albums and singles but ended up parting ways after an internal dispute in 2014. Vocalist Bryon Scott joined for 2015's Fury album. As...

Travel with Sandra Bullock to ‘The Lost City’ (Review)

The acting career of Sandra Bullock has taken a bit of a back seat in recent years with only a handful of starring roles since 2018's heist caper 'Ocean's 8.' While doing press for 'The Lost City,' she revealed that she's going back on a hiatus to spend time with her children. Presumably that will go into full effect again once she promotes 'Bullet Train' later this year. As proven with films like 'Miss Congeniality' and 'The Heat,' Bullock is at her best when given the space to be funny. Her spot-on comic timing is on display in this ridiculously over-the-top adventure that pairs her with Channing Tatum. Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum star in 'The Lost City' (Paramount Pictures) Bullock stars as Loretta Sage, a burnt-out author who specializes in historical rom...
