Album Release: Dana Fuchs’ ‘Borrowed Time’ Drops April 29th

Accomplished blues-rocker Dana Fuchs is set to release her new studio album this spring. Borrowed Time will be out on Ruf Records on April 29th. On this, her eighth studio album, she leans heavily into her southern rock influences. You can expect 12 new songs inspired by experiences that influenced her at a very early age growing up in Florida. On Borrowed Time, Fuchs' signature voice evokes Janis Joplin's spirit with Mick Jagger's swagger. The album was recorded over eight days in a Michigan studio. Joining bandmates Jack Daley and Jon Diamond were guitarist/engineer Kenny Tudrick, drummer Todd Glass and keyboardist Jordan Champion. The band gelled and tracked everything live, never needing more than a few takes for each song. As a result, they captured a rootsy, Rolling Stone...

Listen To The New Song by Chicago Punk Rock Band Bad Planning

Chicago punk rock band Bad Planning just released a new song and it is one you don't want to miss. The track, called "Throw," is full of energy and will get your adrenaline pumping. If you're looking for a new punk rock anthem to add to your playlist, here's something to consider. Bad Planning has been compared to Chicago-based bands such as Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, and The Lawrence Arms. In 2019 they released their latest album called “Splitting Hairs”. The album featured some heavier material with singles like "Be Brave" and "Actor". The four-piece, consisting of Alex Crook, Jack Coombs, Aaron Hornback, and Miles Schuett teamed with Jump Start Records in May of 2021. They share a DIY ethos and love for punk rock. Bad Planning has begun to grow outside of their local scene as t...

SXSW 2022 Film Dispatches, Vol. 3 (Reviews)

After having a few days to recover, I'm finally ready to close out my look at this year's SXSW Film Festival by featuring the best film I saw. To say it's been a crazy week or so around here is an understatement. Things wrapped up on Sunday with the last few premieres from Saturday screening online. Right after the majority of out-of-towners headed out of Austin, we were hit with an intense storm system that found tornadoes ripping through the area on Monday night. Over the course of the event, I watched 20 feature films. That feels like a lot to me, but I also have friends who attended who got closer to 40. All I can say in my defense is that I was also working a full-time job and still making time for viewing. Ultimately, I really enjoyed almost everything I saw, but the foll...

Pop-Punk Band 408 Pays Tribute To Mark Hoppus On Catchy New Single

Orlando's 408 has just dropped a new single that's making some waves. The song is a tribute to Blink 182's legendary bassist "Mark Hoppus" and the accompanying music video will put a smile on your face. 408 teamed up with Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens and Joshua Roberts from Magnolia Park to pay tribute to an artist that's had a huge impact on their lives. The goal was to record a genre mashup that stayed true to themselves while paving new ground. The resulting collaboration combines elements of Juice WRLD style trap with pop-punk vibes and they've succeeded in creating something unique. To the point that they've gotten the attention of Mark Hoppus himself as evidenced by this tweet by the man himself. https://twitter.com/markhoppus/status/1507059696577875969 Now...

7 Lollapalooza Acts You Shouldn’t Miss

The lineup for the 2022 edition of Lollapalooza dropped and it's stacked from top to bottom. There's a little something for everyone with acts like Metallica, Dua Lipa, and Kygo all on the bill. What began as a farewell tour in 1991 for Jane's Addiction has morphed into a yearly event that simply can't be missed. The weekend-long show takes place at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois July 28-31. The massive park has been home to the festival since 2005. While tickets start at $350, festival organizers offered up a layaway plan that starts at just $19.99. Expensive? Yes. But worth it. For the purpose of our little article here, we wanted to focus less on the bands in big letters at the top of the bill and more on some of the deserving acts that appear a little further on down the poste...

Meat Puppets Set For Live Album Release, Prep For Mudhoney Tour Dates

Things are heating up for iconic rockers The Meat Puppets. On May 6th, they're set to release a new live album Meat Puppets Live Manchester 2019. The following week they'll kick off a string of tour dates with Mudhoney. Our only complaint is that they won't be hitting more cities together. In 2019 The Meat Puppets hit the road with three original members. Curt Kirkwood (guitar), Cris Kirkwood (bass), and Derrick Bostrom (drums) were joined by Elmo Kirkwood (guitar) and Ron Stabinsky (keyboards). The tour was not without challenges. However, band leader Curt Kirkwood stated, "playing together night after night, listening to the music evolve, more than makes up for it". Live From The UK On tour, The Meat Puppets worked with videographer Yousef Sheikh. He and his crew captured t...

Chief State Drop New Pop-Punk Single “Team Wiped”

Canadian band Chief State is here to help usher in a pop-punk revival with the release of their new single "Team Wiped". Along with the single drop we have details on the release of their debut full-length album. Waiting For Your Colours is set for a July 1st premiere on Mutant League Records. Hailing from the Vancouver area, the album is a result of five years of hustle as a band. Waiting For Your Colours follows up the stand-alone single 'Metaphors" from last year and the 2020 EP "Tough Love". After spending time with each, the band has clearly taken a big step forward with "Team Wiped". Not to say their previous efforts weren't quality, it's clear they're growing as songwriters and production values have improved with this release. Frontman Fraser Simpson who left his home i...
