Crown The Empire Unleashes “Black Sheep” From Their Dogma Album

Post-metalcore quartet Crown The Empire has released its latest single from its upcoming fifth studio album. "Black Sheep" will appear on Dogma and is set to be released on April 28th via Rise Records. According to the band's vocalist, Andy Leo the new material takes the band back to their early days of playing together in a garage with a "fuck you" attitude. The track is full of in-your-face energy that their younger selves would have loved. "Black Sheep" is a departure from the lofty ideas tackled in their previous releases and offers a more honest and direct perspective. Dogma was produced and mixed by Zach Jones, he's known for his work with artists like Fever 333, Poorstacy, and Nova Twins. The album is a diverse collection of songs that reflects the band's introspection o...

All Hail The Queen: Scene Queen Refuses to be Silenced with “18+”

"Fuck the Scene, I'm The Queen!" Last Friday, "bimbocore" artist Scene Queen dropped a new single that I haven't been able to stop thinking about: "18+". The song addresses the state of the alt rock/emo scene in the most poignant-yet-accessible way. If you're a fan of this type of music--or grew up in "the scene"--don't skip this one. It's fun to listen to... and it's going to give you plenty to think about. If anyone deserves the title "Scene Queen", it is most definitely this 25-year-old artist, as proven by this witty new bop. Check out "18+" by Scene Queen on Spotify, below: https://open.spotify.com/album/6oveIE1VtjcawBs2UlM3Mn?si=MUdiUjBiQcCiVy3Bj2p-tw "18+" is a fast favorite. This song has the accessibility of a nursery rhyme, but also has the...

It’s All About THE HARA, You Know: “Autobiography” out now.

If you were able to catch THE HARA at their first showcase during SXSW 2023 on Monday, or if you keep up with them through other means, then you already know the good news; if not, then we’re here to tell you-- "Autobiography”, the band’s sixth and final single in support of their upcoming debut LP, SURVIVAL MODE, is finally here.  Check out the exciting tell-all track on Spotify, below.  https://open.spotify.com/album/2uL9lH4pvsdPfkEMuetPTT?si=PAtnJEZgSg6mADsUhe_iYg True to THE HARA’s mission, this track is a little bit absurd, a little bit chaotic, and a whole lot of fun. I mean, just look at the lyrics, especially in the second half– The lads are not only bringing us into a shared egotistical, manic-hypervigilant panic spiral of sorts– they even dragged ...

HBO Max Premieres Oscar-nominated ‘All The Beauty And The Bloodshed’ (Review)

The latest and greatest from filmmaker Laura Poitras ('Citizenfour') is a captivating look at the life and career of artist Nan Goldin. In 'All The Beauty And The Bloodshed,' Poitras takes us far beyond the artistic achievements of a remarkable woman. The film was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, only the second time in the fest's history that a documentary won the honor. Sadly, it lost out to the timely 'Navalny' at the Oscars this year in the Best Documentary Feature category, It should find a much bigger audience on HBO Max than it did during a brief theatrical release last fall. Nan Goldin in 'All The Beauty And The Bloodshed' (NEON/HBO Documentary Films) The Verdict 'All The Beauty And The Bloodshed' was in my Top 10 for 2022, so you can safely presu...
