Blue October has released the rousing title track from their upcoming double album Spinning The Truth Around. Part one will be released on October 14th with part two arriving in early 2023.
The band will spend the next five months on the road with a busy tour schedule supporting the release. After several pandemic-related delays, their long-awaited tour with the Goo Goo Dolls is underway. From there they’ll head out on a fall headlining tour in October to close out the year.
Frontman Justin Furstenfeld hunkered down and wrote and recorded both albums with the band at his Up/Down Studios in San Marcos, Texas throughout 2020 and 2021.
Finding Inspiration
Furstenfeld asked himself when searching for inspiration, if Bruce Springsteen had to say goodbye to someone he really cared for, how would he do it? When discussing the overall vibe behind “Spinning The Truth Around” he added…
“…like a sunset, bittersweet. It’s beautiful when it’s shining. Sad when it’s gone. Just grateful that you got to be a part of it.”
-Justin Furstenfeld
Building On Recent Success
The highly anticipated double album follows a string of successful releases from Blue October. In the fall of 2020, the band released This Is What I Live For which spawned the hit “Oh My My”. Two years prior they saw tremendous success with the I Hope You’re Happy album. The title track turned out to be one of their biggest hits to date.
Furstenfeld will make his feature film debut this fall playing a villain in Section Eight. He stars alongside Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, and Dermont Mulrooney. The movie tells the story of a former soldier who avenges the murder of his family. He’s sprung from prison only to be recruited by a shadowy government agency. He also just wrapped filming Lights Out so there may be more acting roles for the talented Blue October frontman down the road.
Speaking of films, Blue October’s own critically acclaimed documentary Get Back Up was released in the spring of 2020 and is now available on Amazon Prime and iTunes. For more information pay the Blue October website a visit or follow along on Instagram and Twitter.
