Release Radar’s Greatest Hits Vol 2: Acoustic Feels with King Leer & Cassyette

Vol 2: "cellophane" by King Leer & "Petrichor (Stripped)" by Cassyette I don't know about you, but this time of year always makes me feel a bit blue. Whether it's the cold weather, overcast skies, or stubborn seasonal affective disorder--something about this time of year is just heavy. With that in mind, this week we're slowing things down with two tracks that are guaranteed to get you in your feels: the bittersweet, acoustic bop, "cellophane" by King Leer & the haunting, stripped-down version of "Petrichor" by Cassyette. Let's dive in. Singer/Songwriter Greg Amici Returns With Aquatic Themed Lyric Video For “Ship Strike”

The multi-talented musician, writer, and actor Greg Amici is back with another innovative music video. "Ship Strike" is set to be featured on Amici's forthcoming album Tragicomic and the lyric video is out now. When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Amici admits he went outside his comfort zone. He's traditionally resisted writing protest-type songs in an attempt to avoid coming across as preachy. However, when someone close to him requested he shine a light on the plight of whales and the impact of shipping on their nighttime swimming habits, he was inspired to write "Ship Strike". Amici hopes to call attention to the issue and help push technology forward that could potentially be a solution to a complex problem. While originally written on piano, something was mis...

Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park Releases Innovative NFT Ziggurats Mixtape

Leave it to Mike Shinoda to help lead the charge on NFTs for musicians with his new Ziggurats project. His new generative mixtape, a 6:45 minute music and art project went live on the Tezos blockchain and sold out in minutes. The material is on par with some of his best work with Linkin Park and is worth a listen (or 20). The 5,000 piece NFT collection allows fans to own unique music and cover art with no two alike, all designed by Shinoda. He spent the last few years creating pieces of music and artwork for this project. He assembled different configurations of content using custom computer software. The result is thousands of one of a kind original pieces of content for fans. We're not going to sit here and pretend we're experts in the NFT space. There's still so much to lear...

How To Stream 2021’s Best Movies

December is here which means that we're rapidly approaching my favorite time of the year: awards season! This week alone has already seen the Gotham Awards, the National Board of Review, and the New York Film Critics Circle give away their top honors. There are plenty more kudos to follow, heading towards the 94th Academy Awards in March 2022. While there are buzzed-about titles that will be getting theatrical-only releases over the next month or two, many of the year's best films are already streaming or available to rent on VOD. This post will help point you in the right direction so you can get caught up over the holidays and be ready for your office or friend Oscar pools! The list below includes titles available now and some that will be dropping in the weeks ahead. Whene...

The Life and Tragic Death of Adrienne Shelly Examined in New HBO Documentary (Review)

There was a moment in the early 90s when it looked like actress Adrienne Shelly would become one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. She burst onto the scene with extraordinary leading roles in two independent films by Hal Hartley. 1989's "The Unbelievable Truth" and 1990's "Trust" were wildly unique and quirky comedies that became minor hits on the arthouse circuit and ended up finding larger audiences thanks to home video. As an actor, she was struggling by the late 90s to be cast in the kinds of movies she was really passionate, so she started to make her own. A 1997 feature called "Sudden Manhattan" is nearly impossible to track down these days, but she made a much bigger splash with what turned out to be her final film. Shelly wrote and directed the 2007 feature "Waitres...
