RRGH Vol 4: Celebrating Women & Femmes in Music

My dear readers, it's time for me be completely honest with you: It's a bit embarrassing to admit this, but when it came to International Women's Month, I froze. I thought I'd be able to put together a piece celebrating women & femmes in music in no time, but here we are. In May. Don't get me wrong--I immediately had an idea as to who I wanted to write about. Like, when I asked myself, "OK, Women's Month-- woohoo! Time to write. Best chick in music right now, go." I did have a name pop up in my head. But it felt too easy. Too immediate. So, I sat with that thought for a moment. "Why did my mind immediately jump to her?" Because her music is bomb, of course. There was no lie there. She wasn't a cop-out. I absolutely wanted to celebrate her during women's month, ...

Ghost Woman’s “Clockwork” Single Hits Just The Right Spot

Ghost Woman's "Clockwork" single is a refreshing new song that taps into something special. The project is the brainchild of talented multi-instrumentalist Evan Uschenko. He spent time on the road internationally with songwriter/producer Michael Rault. He found inspiration after sharing the bill with artists like Jacco Gardiner and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. He's channeled that innovative spirit into his new self-titled album set for release on July 1st. Influenced by the likes of Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds, and others, "Clockwork" takes the listener on a psychedelic journey through the desert. I just rewatched Natural Born Killers for the 100th (rough estimate) time and this song could fit right in on the soundtrack. While the song does have a psychedelic feel ...

The Von Tramps Drop Infectious New Single & Album Called GO

The Von Tramps is an up-and-coming punk rock band formed out of Minneapolis. One doesn't often immediately associate punk rock with the Twin Cities. But if The Von Tramps have their way, that could all change. After 2018s successful debut album The Future is Female and the follow-up EP Sun's Out: Strung Out!, they've come roaring back with 12 high-energy tracks on GO. The Von Tramps pack a real punch on this new concept album. Jenna Enemy's powerful vocals are complimented by Chelsea Oxborough's guitar playing and pounding bass from Krissandra Anfinson. 12 Rock Videos On YouTube With More Than 1 Billion Views

Evanescence is the latest band to achieve a once-unthinkable milestone. "Bring Me To Live" has crossed the one billion view mark on YouTube. And we'd be lying if we said we weren't responsible for at least 267 of those views over the last few years. Here's a deeper dive where we take a look at 12 rock videos on YouTube that have been viewed more than a billion times. Sure bands like Bon Jovi and AC/DC have hit the mark but that's to be expected. Pop stars? Sure, a lot of them have more than a billion. And of course, in researching for this article we came across the fact that the first act to achieve this accomplishment was Psy with the phenomenon "Gangnam Style" (yes we can do the dance still). So congrats to Amy Lee and company from Evanescence, you've entered into a pretty ...

Pop-Punk Band 408 Pays Tribute To Mark Hoppus On Catchy New Single

Orlando's 408 has just dropped a new single that's making some waves. The song is a tribute to Blink 182's legendary bassist "Mark Hoppus" and the accompanying music video will put a smile on your face. 408 teamed up with Kellin Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens and Joshua Roberts from Magnolia Park to pay tribute to an artist that's had a huge impact on their lives. The goal was to record a genre mashup that stayed true to themselves while paving new ground. The resulting collaboration combines elements of Juice WRLD style trap with pop-punk vibes and they've succeeded in creating something unique. To the point that they've gotten the attention of Mark Hoppus himself as evidenced by this tweet by the man himself. https://twitter.com/markhoppus/status/1507059696577875969 No...
