2024 Music Festivals to Look Forward To… When It Cools Off in September

If you’re like me, then perhaps this summer is just a bit too fucking hot to do music festivals. Yeah, these record-breaking 2024 heatwaves suck… but never fear, for we at MendoWerks have put together a list of some US-based music festivals to look forward to when it cools off (hopefully) later on this year.

My hope is that it’ll be safe to go outside again by September… so let’s start there.

2024 Music Festivals: September

Okay, I lied to you… we’re technically starting on August 30th, which is when Rocklahoma kicks off.

Rocklahoma is a festival that’s always been on my bucket list. They consistently have some of the best hard rock line-ups out there.

This year, Rocklahoma has some very special-to-my-Zillennial-heart headliners: Evanescence, Avenged Sevenfold, Halestorm, A Day to Remember, Disturbed, Skillet, Lamb of God, Slipknot, and Mastodon… AKA the ‘headliners’ of every playlist I made in high school.

We’ve also got some phenomenal bands on support, like Sleep Theory and Oxymorrons.

Dates: August 30-September 1, 2024.

Location: Pryor, Oklahoma at the Fever Music Festival Grounds.

Anticipated weather: Generally, Oklahoma sees highs in the mid-80’s and sees some precipitation in September.

Tickets: Click here.

Next up, we’ve got Asbury Park’s Sea.Hear.Now festival, kicking off mid-September.

Sea.Hear.Now is a brand new music festival coming to the East Coast in September. It caught my attention not just because of the music itself, but because it’s actually vaguely commutable for me out here in Massachusetts. That’s huge, honestly.

The mix of talent featured throughout this festival are also quite interesting. For headliners, you’ve got Noah Kahan, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. 311, The Black Crowes, The Revivalists, Norah Jones, Trey Anastasio Band, and The Gaslight Anthem all in the same weekend. On support, we’ve got Joe P and Action Bronson, among many others.

Dates: September 14-15, 2024.

Location: North Beach, Asbury Park, NJ.

Tickets: Click here.

Anticipated weather: Average highs for mid-September in New Jersey are in the low-to-mid-70’s.

Then, we’re headed to Maryland for Oceans Calling on September 27 to finish off the month on a good note.

Oceans Calling is another festival located in a vacation destination… and September is definitely not too late to enjoy the beach, if you ask me!

This three-day music festival caught my eye for similarly nostalgic reasons. Friday, they’ve got Blink-128 headlining. On Saturday, it’s The Killers. On Sunday, it’s Dave Matthews Band. Throughout the weekend, support acts include Cage the Elephant, The Offspring, The All-American Rejects, Boyz II Men, and more.

Dates: September 27-29, 2024.

Location: Ocean City, Maryland… on the Boardwalk!

Tickets: Click here.

Anticipated weather: At the end of September, Maryland usually sees highs in the mid-70’s with little rain.
