Breaking Waves: Yama on Human Error//, War Dubs, Pantheon & More. [interview]

"Wave encapsulates the whole range of the human experience, from love to grief. There is something that your heart can relate with somewhere in this scene." - Yama on "what does Wave Mean To you?" If there was an award for 'busiest wave producer', it might have to go to Yama this year. In the past few weeks alone, the dude has released two singles, hosted a vibe.digital podcast, and has been promoting the hell out of North America's first-ever wave festival, Pantheon. Before that, Yama was spearheading the coordination of said festival, as well as the annual 'war dubs season' that we all know and love. If you're unfamiliar with Yama, you're in luck. I connected with the artist a little while ago and was able to ask him some questions about all the different roles he takes on in...

Breaking Waves: M!NGO & “Faded”, SoundCloud Surprises [interview]

"...Wave, to me, is a huge community of people that all love sounds..."-M!NGO, 2022 You ever thank an artist for releasing something? Yes? No? --Well, that was me with M!NGO this week. We’ve hit the midway point in our #gothgirlsummer and ya’ll, let me tell you, I was really thinking I wasn’t going to make it. At least, that’s what I would tell you if you had asked me earlier this week how I was doing. I’m still melting- and life is still chaos- But, then-- I got a little notification that Mr. M!NGO put together a playlist of “THINGS U MAY HAVE MISSED” on SoundCloud and it turned my whole week around. https://soundcloud.com/jmingo/sets/things-u-may-have-missed That’s not all– If you checked Spotify this week, you’ll notice that he graced us...

Breaking Waves: Fyoomz & “Invisible Touch”

"Wave exists in the collective subconscious of every avid electronic music fan. People who take an active interest in Wave are among those same fans, except they’re awake." — Donald // Fyoomz 🌊🌊🌊 (@fyoomz) April 12, 2022 Twitter It was my lucky day on Tuesday. When I woke up, I felt well enough to write, AND I found a new Fyoomz drop--all at once!! Let me tell you—“Invisible Touch” is a whole vibe. It kept me going literally all day. You should check it out, especially if you need an intense pick-me-up. It's all that and more. https://open.spotify.com/album/2F0YZkPricVTNeeBYydGd3 https://twitter.com/fyoomz/status/1534179687089557505 Describing the track on SoundCloud, Fyoomz says, “This is my take on a classic trance tune from Bobina and Ferry Corst...

Breaking Waves: Just Connor & “Hyperstrike”

Considering it has been almost exactly a year to the day since I first spoke with Just Connor about his music, I think it's only right to do this first issue of Breaking Waves about him... Especially since today is the day that the first Just Connor track of 2022 drops! Please go ahead and stream "Hyperstrike"-- I promise you, it will send you on a gorgeous sonic journey. It's what I've had on repeat all morning. By the time you reach the second drop, you will realize that no one does wave music quite like JC. That's what I realized a year ago, and have realized time and time again, on my "journey through wave". I say it like that because that's what this has felt like--a journey. Ever since that first conversation with JC, it has felt like I've been on a journey to discover wh...

And now I finally--finally--can hear it in full. And it has been on loop. I just keep going back to it; I can't help it. Meet Deadcrow, the Wave Artist Taking Over...

Release Radar’s Greatest Hits, Vol 3: 2021 Favorites & 2022’s Most Wanted (Saint Slumber, Mayko, THE HARA)

The last few months have introduced us all to some incredible music, I know. However, there are few artists who captivated me the way that Saint Slumber, Mayko & THE HARA have. Ever. While there will be links and embeds galore for you to explore, here is a Spotify playlist with selections from all three for you to start out with: 2021's Winner: Saint Slumber's EP, how to lose your self. I’d honestly be really sad for you if you missed Saint Slumber’s late-December release last year. That is why I’m telling you about it now! :) Because how to lose your self is the best EP I heard in all o...
