The Foo Fighters family dealt with unimaginable tragedy in 2022 with the loss of drummer Taylor Hawkins. Obvious questions in regard to the future of the band were on our minds but not asked out loud out of respect.
The band posted to their social media channels on New Year’s Eve a note of reflection. Reminding us all the band formed 27 years ago to ‘represent the healing power of music’. Frontman Dave Grohl started the project in the wake of Kurt Cobain’s passing. The note continues, ‘without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward’.
Questions remain as to who will fill the large shoes left behind by Hawkins. We won’t offer any speculation other than to question whether it could be one of the talented drummers who performed at one of the two epic tribute concerts.
Taylor Hawkins joined the Foo Fighters in 1997 and was a key member of the group. In addition to his work with the band, Hawkins played with a number of other artists over the years, including Alanis Morissette and Coheed and Cambria. Known for his energetic and passionate drumming style, he is missed by many.
Dozens of artists came together last year for the two Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts which can be viewed on Paramount+. Connect with the Foo Fighters at their official website or follow along on Instagram and Twitter.
