The infectious new single from Osaka Popstar “Lost & Found” is out now. The animated music video for the track features the band and other special animated guests along with actor/comedian/musician Fred Armisen in the starring role.
The high-energy tune is featured on Osaka Popstar’s latest release. Ear Candy is available now on all your favorite streaming platforms. Fans who prefer vinyl will be pleased to note that it’s available in Limited Edition Candy Swirl form. The CD includes deluxe gatefold packaging and a free 2-sided poster. Both versions include digital access to the new Sweetie Candy Vigilante comic book.
Osaka Popstar was founded by longtime Misfits and Ramones collaborator John Cafiero in 2006. The anime meets NY punk-rock collective features Dean Rispler on guitar and bass with Jon Wurster on drums. Indie rocker Colleen Green is found on guest backing vocals on “Lost & Found”
How Fred Ended Up In The Video
Cafiero and Armisen met briefly at the Misfits reunion show in 2016. They ended up crossing paths as each was about to board a plane home after the show. In an ironic twist of fate, their seats happened to be next to each other and they’ve kept in touch ever since. They bonded over similar taste in music and the fact that they’re both big John Waters fans.
Fast forward to the present day. The original idea for the music video was for it to be live-action. The two friends happened to cross paths as Ear Candy was in the process of being mixed. Cafiero shared the concept with Armisen and he immediately agreed to participate.
“I was waiting in my car parked outside of a supermarket in NYC, and a guy in a business suit passing by, stopped at the picture glass window of the storefront and, while gesturing to someone inside, started doing all these absolutely crazy and ridiculous dances—and I’m talking full throttle! I had no idea what he was up to, but I was mesmerized by it. It turned out that he was trying to get the attention of a girl working the checkout line. Making it more bizarre is that he was well dressed and very reserved looking; someone you’d never expect to behave that way.”

The 4-track Ear Candy also features punk rock covers of songs by the Partridge Family, the Archies, and The Monkees and is a fun collection of music. The only downside is the length. After listening we found ourselves hungry for more.
Debut Album Reissue
The band did just release a deluxe expanded and remastered version of their debut album Osaka Popstar and the American Legends of Punk. Featuring Jerry Only (Misfits), Marky Ramone (Ramones), Dez Cadena (Black Flag), and Ivan Julian (Richard Hell & The Voidoids), the album is filled with punk rock royalty.
