Wave in NYC: where to find Skeler, barnacle boi, Noah B & more on Friday.

The day has finally come: New York is getting a wave music showcase. This Friday, April 14th, NYC is getting emotional with Skeler and barnacle boi, as part of their US headline tour. Supporting them on this stop is local wave music champion, Noah B, and vibe.digital stars, KTrek and Djedi. While this massive tour also features Brothel as a headliner at many of the stops, he will not be playing in NYC this time around. However, Freshly announced is the addition of a special opening set by the one-and-only SBU. This is certainly going to be a night for the history books. Read on to get to know all the artists on this lineup. Welcome to the Church of Saint Slumber.

Last month, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Malibu x Saint Slumber x Moonroof live show in Philly. Needless to say, it was an incredible time. To tell you the truth, I was only familiar with one band going in: Saint Slumber. I've been following them since 2020. And by following, I mean that they haven't left my "On Repeats" since November 14, 2020. I had never seen them live before, but they topped my concert bucket list. So I was pretty excited for this one, folks. I was almost nervous-- how do you prepare for a show that's got YEARS of anticipation behind it? And on their end, having been away from the stage for over 800 days-- how can a band meet fan expectations after all this time? But the only question I had leaving Philadelphi...

Breaking Waves: Just Connor & “Hyperstrike”

Considering it has been almost exactly a year to the day since I first spoke with Just Connor about his music, I think it's only right to do this first issue of Breaking Waves about him... Especially since today is the day that the first Just Connor track of 2022 drops! Please go ahead and stream "Hyperstrike"-- I promise you, it will send you on a gorgeous sonic journey. It's what I've had on repeat all morning. By the time you reach the second drop, you will realize that no one does wave music quite like JC. That's what I realized a year ago, and have realized time and time again, on my "journey through wave". I say it like that because that's what this has felt like--a journey. Ever since that first conversation with JC, it has felt like I've been on a journey to discover wh...

Saint Slumber Released an Off-Beat, Alt Pop New Single, “freak!” ft. 100+ of Their Fans

Saint Slumber has always been in a category of their own. They have a special blend of alternative rock and dark, electronic pop that I have never heard anywhere else. They're always doing something new that surprises me and this new single, "freak!", is no different. Blending over 100 fan voices into a choir for the track, Saint Slumber's latest release is more than a song: it's a force to be reckoned with. Check it out on Spotify below-- https://open.spotify.com/track/5oAnYRa5iZUjKG9wK0QIE5?si=Dppo0HlvSDaVufB36agPlw&utm_source=copy-link&dl_branch=1 In short, "freak!" is an offbeat anthem of total self-acceptance and is a welcome sight to see in my Spotify library. It came two long months after "never / nowhere", the last Saint Slumber single. "I don't know wh...
