Artist Spotlight: LYFFE

If you're looking for a new artist to check out, then you've come to the right place: in this first edition of MendoWerks Magazine's 'Artist Spotlight' column, we are highlighting LYFFE, an up-and-comer in Chicago's underground electronic music scene. Something we really appreciate about LYFFE is that he creates music that actually gets people dancing--even if, like me, they aren't the sort of folks who often dance. Throughout his discography, you will find nothing but high energy tunes that are going to inspire movement in one way or another. At the same time, despite the energy, some of his tracks retain that particular kind of moodiness generally found in the slower, softer OG wave music that's best saved for a deep listening session rather than the dance floor. As LYFFE has rel...

MIIRRORS’ Debut Album ‘Motion and Picture’ Set For March Release

Chicago-based band MIIRRORS is all set to release their highly-anticipated debut album. Motion And Picture drops on March 24th through Pravda Records. The album was recorded in Studio B at Electrical Audio in Chicago with additional recordings done in Los Angeles and Nashville. The band produced the album and Brian Deck mixed it at Narwhal Studios. "Motion And Picture" takes the listener on a musical journey. Prepare for a trip through honest lyrical introspection and reactive abrasion while showcasing a personal timeline of disillusionment, resolve, and hope. Material on the album blurs the lines between synthesizers and guitars, reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive. Shawn Rios's unique rhythms anchor the songs, and Brian McSweeney's voice soars above the expanding sounds c...

Wolf Rd Drops Pop-Punk Anthem “Way Down”

Wolf Rd is back with a banger of a new single in the form of "Way Down". The band just celebrated the single drop with a big release show at Chicago's Bottom Lounge. Photo Credit: Kelley Curran "Way Down" taps into a little bit of everything I like about the pop-punk genre. It has catchy melodies, heavy guitar breakdowns, and lyrics with depth. The song is about picking up the pieces after you've had your heart broken. Frontman Chris Hoffmann had this to say about the track. "Way Down" is fast and dancey and energetic because it’s not about staying down when you feel bad – it’s a song about pulling yourself up, putting yourself back out there, and being determined not to let your past or other peoples’ opinions determine how you’re going to live your life. Goodbye, and good ridd...

Listen To The New Song by Chicago Punk Rock Band Bad Planning

Chicago punk rock band Bad Planning just released a new song and it is one you don't want to miss. The track, called "Throw," is full of energy and will get your adrenaline pumping. If you're looking for a new punk rock anthem to add to your playlist, here's something to consider. Bad Planning has been compared to Chicago-based bands such as Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, and The Lawrence Arms. In 2019 they released their latest album called “Splitting Hairs”. The album featured some heavier material with singles like "Be Brave" and "Actor". The four-piece, consisting of Alex Crook, Jack Coombs, Aaron Hornback, and Miles Schuett teamed with Jump Start Records in May of 2021. They share a DIY ethos and love for punk rock. Bad Planning has begun to grow outside of their local scene as t...
