The band debuted this song and another track, “Look Ma, No Brains!,” in Las Vegas. First during a sold-out surprise show at the Fremont along with back-to-back headlining performances at the When We Were Young Festival.

Billie Joe Armstrong, the frontman of Green Day, describes “The American Dream Is Killing Me” as a critical reflection on the traditional American Dream and how it often falls short for many people, causing harm instead. The track resonates as a fiery call to action.

Collaboration with Grammy-Winning Producer Rob Cavallo

“Saviors” was recorded in both London and Los Angeles. The song represents the latest collaboration between Green Day and Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo. Fans of the band will recognize Cavallo’s work from some of their most iconic albums, such as Dookie (1994) and American Idiot (2004). Notably, the release of Saviors comes just ahead of the 30th anniversary of Dookie, celebrated with a deluxe edition and a sold-out Las Vegas show where the band performed the album in its entirety.

Accompanying the track is a visually striking black-and-white music video that captures a zombie apocalypse, giving the song an eerie and gritty backdrop. Directed by Brendan Walter and Ryan Baxley, the video was shot in Los Angeles.

Upcoming Performances

Green Day has more in store for their fans. On October 26, they’ll be performing as part of Amazon Music Live’s concert series. November 19, the band will head north to headline the Twisted Tea Grey Cup Halftime Show for the 110th Grey Cup at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.

With a history dating back to 1986, Green Day is one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time. The band has sold over 75 million records globally with 10 billion audio/visual streams. Their breakout album Dookie in 1994 revitalized punk rock and propelled them to superstardom.

The band’s influence on the music industry is undeniable. With multiple Grammy Awards and a well-deserved place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “The American Dream Is Killing Me” is a strong reminder of their enduring impact on the world of rock music. Stay tuned for more exciting music news from this legendary band.
