The Luka State is back with their latest single “Two Worlds Apart.” Their upcoming album “More Than This” is set to be released on March 10 via Thirty Tigers. The band’s Conrad Ellis shared that the song is about the inner battle we all face with our own minds. Feel like two completely different people, but grabbing life with two hands and taking control of it in a positive way. The lyrics of the album were shaped by the experiences of growing up in working-class towns like Winsford in the U.K., where opportunities may be limited, but finding positivity is crucial.
With the help of Grammy Award-winning producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, U2), The Luka State have hit the sweet spot that coexists between anthemic hooks, gnarly wall-of-sound guitars, and propulsive, driving energy. The album was recorded with producer Dan Austin (Biffy Clyro, You Me At Six, Pixies) at Liverpool’s Motor Museum (The 1975, Bring Me the Horizon).
The Luka State On Tour
The Luka State is known for its live shows, they recently announced a tour of the U.K. and Europe set to begin in March. The band consists of frontman Conrad Ellis, along with his childhood friends Sam Bell (bass, vocals), Lewis Pusey (guitar), and Jake Barnabas (drums).
Their self-funded debut album Fall In Fall Out received critical acclaim in 2021. However, due to the pandemic, it was hard to connect with people in person. However, when the band returned to the stage, they found legions of fans who had connected with their music and knew every word. The Luka State continues to evolve as a band both musically and lyrically.
The music video for “Two Worlds Apart” was directed by Jim de Whalley, who worked with the band’s bassist Sam on the album artwork. The story behind the boy in the video is brought to life by Frankie, a close friend of the band, nervously walking through one of the estates in Winsford. The video perfectly sybolizes innocence with the harsh realities of life.
