Silversun Pickups Confirm 21-Date ‘Physical Thrills’ Tour

Along with the confirmation of their 21-date Physical Thrills tour, Silversun Pickups have released a new single featuring bassist Nikki Moninger on vocals. “Alone On A Hill” will be featured on their new album Physical Thrills. The album is set for release on August 19th. The project, Silversun Pickups’ 6th studio effort, was produced by the iconic Butch Vig.

Frontman Brian Aubert has been quoted saying the band took a different approach to record the new album. More insight on that can be found here. Moninger is the focal point of both the song and music video and she had this to say about the process.

This song exposes a side I didn’t know I had in me.  It felt freeing, especially with everything going on in the past couple of years. I’m grateful everyone gave me so much support during the recording process as I am a bit timid when it comes to hearing the sound of my own voice.  Bri just kept telling me to channel my inner Kate Bush.

“Alone On A Hill” is part of the new approach for the band. Moninger’s traditional role as bassist and background vocalist is an important part of the SSPU vibe. It’s refreshing to hear her step out front and take the lead. We’re excited to hear what other surprises they have up their sleeves for us when the album drops.

On Tour

Silversun Pickups’ upcoming headlining tour includes stops in Los Angeles, New York City, Atlanta and more. Eliza & The Delusionals will open most shows. It’s the first run of headline shows for the band since before the pandemic. For ticket information visit the official Silversun Pickups website.

They will be donating $1 from each ticket sold to the PLUS1 x Noise For Now Reproductive Health Access Fund. The organization supports universal access to reproductive rights and services.
