The inaugural When We Were Young Festival is officially sold out. The ensuing fan reaction to the lineup announcement nearly broke the internet. The list of bands is every emo-kid dream and will draw thousands to Las Vegas for the event in October. Tickets started at $224 for the series of shows and the price didn't seem to really matter much. Headliners My Chemical Romance and Paramore top a lineup that includes everyone from AFI and Taking Back Sunday to Bright Eyes and A Day To Remember. Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is set to release a new solo album in February and his latest single tackles a very difficult subject, the loss of a loved one. In this case, he has experienced multiple tragedies in recent years. The unexpected death of his half-brother Chris in 2017 affected him deeply. Pre-production on the film began back in 2018 with Danny Boyle ('Slumdog Millionaire') hired for the director's chair. He left the project that fall over "creative differences" with the producers and MGM ended up going in a new direction with Cary Joji Fukunaga ('True Detective') taking over. Shooting ended up taking place in mid-2019 with a theatrical release scheduled for fall 2020. Jack White is as versatile as they come. One minute loud and raucous, the next quiet and introspective. He's set to have a productive year with two solo albums slated for release in 2022. After coming out hard with the first single "Taking Me Back" from his new album Fear of the Dawn (due in April), "Love Is Selfish" puts his softer side on display. The latter of which will be featured on his planned summer release, Entering Heaven Alive. This is the kind of material I'm looking for from White. Sure he's most often at his best with loud distorted guitars but he's got a softer side. Judah & The Lion Having formed in 2011 out of Nashville, Judah & The Lion are no strangers to the Tennessee music scene. The alt-Americana group will perform on the Friday of the fest.
