Innovative hard rockers Mastodon and French heavy metal band Gojira are joining forces for The Mega-Monsters Tour. The massive co-headline tour will embark across North America in 2023. Along with special guests Lorna Shore on all dates, these will be taking over arenas and amphitheaters throughout the spring and summer, alternating headlining sets each night.
The tour kicks off at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, OR on April 18th. They’ll make stops at legendary venues such as the Forum in Los Angeles, CA on April 21st. They’ll roll through Mastodon’s hometown of Atlanta for their biggest Georgia headlining gig to date at the Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. The first leg concludes at Santander Arena in Reading, PA on May 11th. Meanwhile, the tour will resume with a second leg from August 9th through September 2nd.
Mastodon will be hitting the road in support of their critically acclaimed ninth studio album, HUSHED AND GRIM. Meanwhile, Gojira will be out supporting their seventh full-length album, Fortitude, which garnered a Grammy Award nomination in the category of “Best Metal Performance” for “Amazonia.” These two titans previously toured North America together in 2014, and this reunion represents yet another major milestone in their respective careers.
The Mega-Monsters Tour
Grammy award-winning band Mastodon has quietly evolved into one of the most influential, and iconic rock bands of the modern era. Since forming in 2000, the Atlanta quartet has defied both sonic and thematic boundaries with an uncompromising vision unlike anything else in music. This vision manifested over the course of albums such as Leviathan, which landed on Rolling Stone’s coveted The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.
Meanwhile, Gojira has perfected a balance of metallic proficiency, primal grooves, and otherworldly melodies. The French quartet continues to facilitate heavy music’s progression into the future by burning down all boundaries. They’ve unassumingly risen to the forefront of the genre as quiet trailblazers. Thus far, they’ve earned three Grammy nominations and have appeared everywhere from more traditional rock festivals to Coachella and Bonnaroo.
