VIDEO PREMIERE: “This High Up” Is A High-Octane Anthem from JET’s Chris Cester

Chris Cester, best known as the drummer and songwriter for the iconic Australian band JET, is back with an exciting new project. Mystic Knights, a fresh collaboration with Los Angeles songwriters Aaron Eisenberg and Emmanuel “Manny” Castro. The debut single, “This High Up,” is available now and we’re excited to premiere the new music video. The track is a raucous, uptempo anthem that feels instantly familiar yet undeniably new, capturing the high-energy spirit of Cester’s previous work but with a fresh twist.

From the first beat, “This High Up” hits like a freight train. With its infectious groove, punchy backbeat, and raw, unfiltered energy, the track is a celebration of rock and roll in its purest form. It’s the kind of song that doesn’t just make you want to move — it practically demands it. Cester describes the song as “hitting hard and fast like a drug-induced seizure,” and that chaotic, thrilling energy is palpable from start to finish.

How It All Began

The creation of Mystic Knights came from a place of spontaneity. With no clear direction for JET, Cester began writing songs in the middle of the night and formed the band with Manny and Aaron in his garage. With everything recorded between midnight and 6 a.m., the name Mystic Knights, suggested by Noel Gallagher, was the perfect fit for a project born out of those late-night, free-spirited sessions.

At its core, Mystic Knights is about the beat. Cester’s lifetime as a drummer shines through, as the rhythm takes center stage in every track. “It’s all about the backbeat,” he says, and “This High Up” delivers in spades — it’s a rock song with no frills, just pure, unfiltered energy.

For fans of Cester’s work in JET, “This High Up” signals an exciting new chapter. It’s a song about having a good time and forgetting the rules — and if this first single is any indication, Mystic Knights is here to stay.
