Southern California’s own FIDLAR is back after a four-year hiatus. Their new EP That’s Life is set for release on March 17th. This six-song EP is the first official release from FIDLAR since 2019’s “Almost Free” and we’re excited to introduce you to their killer new single.

“Centipede” is a song that explores the intricacies of relationships and the discomfort that can grow the longer you spend with someone. Along with the release of the track, the band also dropped a music video directed by Ryan Baxley and produced by Alice Baxley.

The EP represents a journey for the trio comprised of Zac Carper, Max Kuehn, and Brandon Schwartzel. It was written, recorded, and produced over the past several years. It was a time when in-person contact was limited, and live concerts were not being played. The band was looking for a way to capture the frenzied, carefree energy that has come to define their live performances since forming over a decade ago.

FIDLAR In The Studio

That’s Life is a back-to-basic collection of songs that are louder and more energetic than previous material. The band worked with recording mastermind Dave Sardy at the famed Shangri-La in Malibu, CA. Sardy is known for his work with bands like Spoon, LCD Soundsystem, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The EP is a title borrowed from a tattoo inspired by a skate video.

The band teased the release of That’s Life last August with “FSU. The track is abrasive in all the right ways, combining frontman Carper’s point-blank-as-ever lyricism with walls of instrumentation that crash and recede like waves in the ocean.

FIDLAR Returns To The Stage

Following several sold-out shows last fall in Los Angeles and New York, FIDLAR is hitting the road once again to do what they do best. The tour will kick off at Catalyst in Santa Cruz and see the group bringing their energetic live show to venues across their home state and up the coast. The band will also be making stops at Noise Pop’s 30th Anniversary Festival in San Francisco and Freakout Weekender in Seattle.
