Understanding your busy social calendar fills up quickly (and concert budgets only spread so thin), promoters at America’s marquee music festivals have already announced dates for 2022.
After canceling the past two years, Coachella will be returning to Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, Bonnaroo is coming roaring back to life and Lollapalooza will return to Grant Park in Chicago.
It’s important to research the event you’re choosing ahead of time. Is it car camping or do you load your gear on a shuttle bus only to have to lug it up a mountain when you arrive? Or is it in a park in the middle of a city and you should book your hotel room early? All important things to consider.
Planning For 2022
Seasoned veterans most likely already have their team in place, tickets (pre) reserved, and accommodations all planned out. I just want to know who’s going to book Adele because that’s the festival I’ll be traveling to in 2022. According to Billboard, her new album 30 is setting records. It’s the top-selling first-week release of the year with over 500,000 copies sold/streamed.
Ok, so the Adele thing isn’t a deal-breaker but she’d sound great on the main stage at Bonnaroo.
It’s also important to consider checking out some smaller locally-minded events because there are some real solid events if you know what rocks to look underneath.
Here are six sets of dates to keep an eye on for festivals in 2022:
· South By Southwest (SWSX) – March 11-20 – Austin, Texas
· Coachella – April 15-17 & April 22-24 – Indio, California
· Bonnaroo – June 16-19 – Manchester, Tennessee
· Lollapalooza – July 28-31 – Chicago, Illinois
· Firefly – September 22-25 – Dover, Delaware
· Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) – May 20-22 – Las Vegas, Nevada
And here’s your obligatory post-festival recap video to tide you over until the next festival season.
