Ally Venable, 22-year old Texas blues-rocker, is making some waves on the road this fall with artists like Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. She’s on tour in support of her latest release Heart of Fire and the second leg is set to get underway.
Written throughout the course of the pandemic, Venable entered Bessie Blue Studio in Tennessee with highly regarded producer Jim Gaines to lay it down. The resulting piece of music was released in February of 2021 and debuted on the Billboard Blues chart at #2.
“My goal for this album was to give an outlet for people. That’s really where the core of these songs comes from…”
Ally Venable
Venable’s path to the blues began by singing in church choirs as a kid. She was heavily influenced by artists from near where she grew up in Texas. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Miranda Lambert played a big role in shaping her musically.
Just 17 when she released her debut album No Glass Shoes in 2016, her prowess as both a songwriter and guitarist continues to evolve. Standout tracks on the new record include “Bring On The Pain” featuring guest Kenny Wayne Shepherd along with Venable’s latest single, a cover of the 1924 Bessie Smith classic “Hateful Blues”.
