Ericson Holt is set to release a brand new album on Conch Town Records this summer. While Holt is based in Florida, most of 99 Degrees was recorded in a Nashville studio over a whirlwind 48 hour period. The album drops on August 20 and the lead single ‘Walkin’ on Bourbon St’ is out now.
Holt assembled an all-star team of musicians to contribute to the project including multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer and organist Kevin McKendree (Delbert McClinton, Buddy Guy, Brian Setzer), guitarist Joe McMahan (Allison Moorer, Kevin Gordon, Hayes Carll, Webb Wilder), bassist Dave Santos (The Neville Brothers, John Fogerty, Bob Seger), along with drummer Kenneth Blevins (John Prine, John Hiatt.) The album was produced at McKendree’s highly regarded studio, The Rock House, in Franklin, TN.
Getting Started
Like many musicians, Holt started small performing in coffee houses and playing piano in church basements. Hard work would eventually lead to dates up and down the east coast with his band and as a solo artist.
A big break came when he had the opportunity to tour with rising country artist Lari White who was looking for someone who matched his playing style to perform with her. Since then, he’s taken the state from Bonnaroo to The Tonight Show to Royal Albert Hall.
New Single
Holt’s news single is an ode to New Orleans. ‘Walkin’ On Bourbon St’ evokes the spirit of Dr. John while paying homage to the spirit of one of America’s great cities. More than 250,000 music fans have already watched the video.
Lead single ‘Walkin’ on Bourbon Street’ sets the stage, morphing from a bluesy musical history lesson into an ecstatic celebration fueled by punchy horns, intoxicating rhythms, and soulful backing vocals from gospel stalwarts The McCrary Sisters, who appear throughout the record.
