Colorado Springs-based trio At-Risk Youth has released its latest single, “Lysander.” Following their well-received hit “Sweet Demon,” this heartfelt love song is sure to captivate fans with its raw emotion and relatable lyrics.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Mark K. Foreman shared his thoughts on the new single, stating, “Fundamentally, ‘Lysander’ is a love song, and at the center is the concept that love is a gamble. It requires taking the plunge, taking a risk, and anteing up. And like all gambles, it can work out well or poorly. But love is more than that; it’s not just money on the line, but your heart. It can require sacrificing time and pride, and it can leave you desperate, but in the end, it’s worth it. It has to be.”
Foreman wrote “Lysander” while jamming with a band he was auditioning for. He came up with the riff and chords in one session. The lyrics were written later, with the whole concept coming together from the initial nervousness to the ending desperation.
At-Risk Youth comprises Foreman, Ryan Hartline on drums, and Ali Belone on bass. Their creative and versatile approach to music has earned them a loyal following, and with “Lysander,” they’re sure to keep their fans hooked.
