A new band is emerging from Woodstock, and its first show will happen close to home. Big Deep will make its live debut on Saturday, September 5, at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York.
The new project brings together former Spafford bassist Jordan Fairless and New York guitarist Luke Schwartz. The lineup also features Kevin Cooper on keys and PJ Holaday on drums. Big Deep describes its sound as a blend of indie rock, rich melodies, expansive grooves, and a genre-defying spirit.
Fairless is well known to fans of the jam scene through his time with Spafford. Big Deep gives him a new outlet while introducing a project built around songs, musicianship, and room to explore. Schwartz brings another perspective to the band. Together, Fairless and Schwartz are creating music that can stretch beyond traditional indie rock without losing sight of melody.
“All At Once” Offers the First Taste of Big Deep
Big Deep has also released its new song, “All At Once.” The track was written by Schwartz and Fairless and produced by Big Deep. Danny Blume handled mixing and mastering.
“All At Once” provides an early introduction to what Big Deep is building. The song combines a strong melodic foundation with a spacious arrangement and a groove that leaves room for the musicians to move.
That approach should make the transition to the live stage an interesting one.
Big Deep Makes Its Live Debut September 5
The September 5 show at Bearsville Theater represents the first opportunity to hear Big Deep in a live setting. Woodstock is also a fitting place to begin. The project was born in the area, giving the debut the feel of a hometown introduction rather than simply another tour stop.
