Saugerties, New York, in 1994 hosted Woodstock ’94, a 25th anniversary celebration of the 1969 Woodstock festival. As he was in 1969, Woodstock festival promoter Michael Lang ran the show and, yes, there was plenty of rain and plenty of mud.
Saugerties in 2024, in a clever move, hosted a 30th anniversary celebration of Woodstock ’94. Yes, that’s right, a 30th anniversary celebration of the 25th anniversary celebration of the 1969 Woodstock festival. And yes, doesn’t this seem completely appropriate, and doesn’t this make total sense for the community where funny man and successful television comedian Jimmy Fallon grew up?
Agreed!
Saugerties, like Woodstock on the other end of Route 212 in New York’s Ulster County, is a cauldron of creativity. And that includes The Local, a stunning, compelling, captivating venue in downtown Saugerties co-founded by Danny Melnick, producer of the Saratoga Jazz Festival, at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY. The Local on Oct. 26, 2025, hosted a Live Music Showcase that featured three engaging musicians, Ginger Winn of Kingston, NY; Pamela Laws of Brooklyn; and Carly Pearl of Rhinebeck, NY. Backing them up where the always-amazing Will Bryant on piano, keyboards and vocals, who toured with Donald Fagen of Steely Dan fame; and Jack Petruzzelli, of Fab Faux and Rufus Wainwright fame. Both Bryant and Petruzelli also perform with Joan Osborne.
