AWOLNATION Tour Announced, Covers Album Drops Friday

AWOLNATION is hitting the road and tickets go on sale Friday. Not-so-coincidentally, the highly anticipated covers and compilation album will be released the same day. My Echo, My Shadow, My Covers and Me features appearances by Beck, Jewel, Brandon Boyd (Incubus), Taylor Hanson (yes, that Hanson), and many others.

Joining AWOLNATION on tour are Badflower and The Mysterines. Dubbed the ‘Falling Forward’ tour, it’ll kick off October 6th in Utah and run through November 18th in Seattle. Highlights include stops in New York City, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn Bowl Nashville. Tickets are on sale to the general public Friday at 10 am local time and can be found here. There is a special pre-sale underway for members of the AWOLNATION fan club through Thursday.

Last year AWOLNATION earned Diamond certification on their breakthrough single “Sail”. Long story short, that means a lot of people have listened to the song over its 10-year history. More than 10 million, but who’s counting? Formed by the multi-talented Aaron Bruno in 2010, the band has made its mark with a number of hit songs and sold-out tours during that time.

Covers Album Marks Beginning Of A New Chapter

With four successful studio albums under their belt, this covers project marks a new chapter for the band. In a recent Billboard article, Bruno called the project ‘a palate cleanser for releasing new, original music.’ So far we’ve gotten a Scorpions cover featuring Brandon Boyd and Portugal. The Man. The Midnight Oil cover features Tim McIlrath of Rise Against and the Madonna cover features Taylor from Hanson.

The concept for My Echo, My Shadow, My Covers and Me came about in 2020 as Bruno was quarantined (along with the rest of us). The idea was/is to pay homage to the original versions of the songs while celebrating music in general. You can pre-save/order the album here if you like. And just for the record, while we’re excited about this album cycle, the comment in Billboard about new music planned for the future is pretty damn exciting.
