Mastodon Release New Emotionally Charged Single & Cinematic Music Video

Grammy Award-winning rockers Mastodon have just released a new single on the heels of a major tour and album announcement. “Teardrinker” is set to be featured on their upcoming LP Hushed and Grim due October 29.

The video, directed by Lorenzo Diego Carrera, follows the band as they enter an empty warehouse before becoming immersed into four uniquely curated mini universes. Far out.

The Atlanta-based outfit has offered up the new album for pre-order and will have vinyl options available. Hushed is the ninth studio album from Mastodon and first since they took home the Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2017.

According to a recent press release, “Invoking their evolution again, the elegiac track’s melodic riff cuts through a steady groove before a haunting hook takes hold, ‘I can see your face, and I feel the pain, and I feel the shame that I have let you down again.’ The vocal call-and-response spirals into warbling guitar leads, and one last cathartic blast of distortion and drums.

Teardrinker is the second single to be released of the new album, Hushed and Grim. “Pushing the Tides” has already had two million streams and over 800K YouTube views.
