Modern blues/rock outfit The Stone Foxes are celebrating the release of their first studio album in nearly six years. The blistering new 10-song On The Other Side is available now.
The San Francisco-based band is celebrating a number of ‘firsts’ with the project. It’s the first time brothers Shannon and Spence have been the primary songwriters on each track on a Stone Foxes release. It’s the first time Shannon has sung lead vocals on every track while it’s the first time Spence has been the main bass player.
In The Studio
On The Other Side was recorded at various locations. The Stone Foxes worked everywhere from The Complex and New & Improved Recording to a series of living and bedrooms across the bay area. The result is a cohesive cinematic audio experience with a twist as explained by frontman Shannon Koehler.
“My brother and I created this album to be a cinematic western rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack to accompany you when the journey gets rough. We’re all trying to get through our own things in a big beautiful broken world, trying to reach greener grass, while holding on to the people we love.”
-Shannon Koehler
The Stone Foxes grew up loving westerns and rock ‘n’ roll. They added a cinematic horn section for the new album and it contributes nicely to the overall theme of the project. The band celebrated the release of On The Other Side with a show at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall on Friday night.
Stand-out tracks on the album include “Man’s Red Fire” and “Time Is A Killer” For more information on what’s next for The Stone Foxes visit their website. You can follow along on Instagram and Twitter for additional updates.
